PURPOSE:To give a superior abrasion resistance, by fusing aluminum and aluminum alloy in a fixed flowing amount of inactive gas and nitrogen gas by using TIG welding torch. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum of aluminum alloy is maintained in fused state at 10- 50l/min argon sealed gas flowing volume containing 0.10-50% nitrogen gas for a fixed time by TIG welding torch and is slowly cooled. Al2O3 on the surface of the material to be treated, is destroyed by flowing a large amount of gas and thick nitride layer is formed by entering forcibly and diffusing the nitrogen gas in molten material. Maintaining time of fusion is generally 30-90sec. For example, mixed gas mixed 98% argon gas with 2% nitrogen gas, is supplied in the torch 2 from the gas supply tube 4 and the arc 6 is generated by the power source 5 between the tungsten electrode 3 and the Al-5% Mg alloy and the molten pool 7 is formed. Maintaining time is about 60sec and lastly said alloy is slowly cooled.
