PURPOSE:To make possible to analyze hydrogen accurately in a short time with high sensitivity in a simple operation without using chemicals by catching carbon dioxide gas used for substitution in a vessel by cooling a part of a conduit, and then analyzing hydrogen with a mass spectrometer. CONSTITUTION:Blowing in carbon dioxide gas from a valve 7 into a vacuum vessel 1 for metal sample, a sample feed port 2 is opened to substitute the inside of the vessel with carbon dioxide gas. Next, a metal sample 4 which has previously been treated, for example, by electrolytic hydrogen charging is set on a supporting base 3 from the feed port 2, and the feed port 2 and the valve 7 are closed immediately.
