MEASURING METHOD FOR THICKNESS OF CORRUGATED SHEATH

PURPOSE:To measure the sheath thickness continuously, by measuring the sheath thickness while detecting ruggedness of the corrugated cable or the like and by obtaining the sheath thickness at a specific point at every pitch of the corrugated cable or the like by the signal processing and by performing the signal processing furthermore. CONSTITUTION:Ultrasonic pulses are obtained from ultrasonic probe 10 at time intervals corresponding to the sheath thickness and the water distance and are processed by ultrasonic thickness gauge 11 in respect to the electric circuit. The number of pulses corresponding to the water distance is counted by counter circuit 27 and is stored in memory 33. The minimum value of memory 33 is selected by minimum value detecting circuit 34. Meanwhile, the analogue output corresponding to the sheath thickness is converted to a digital value by A/D converter 30 and is stored in memory 31 at the same timing as the output of minimum value detecting circuit 34. Contents of memory 31 are recorded through D/A converter 32 by recorder 12.
