HOLD BALLAST LOADING METHOD IN BULK CARGO SHIP

PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of cleaning works in the hold in such a way that residual cargo which still remains in the hold in which unloading has finished is transferred to another hold, ballast is loaded in former hold, and the cargo is loaded in latter hold, and at the time of unloading, the residual cargo is unloaded together with other cargo. CONSTITUTION:In case where a hold 1 is used as a hold ballast tank, when unloading has finished in the hold 1, bulkheads and bottom part in the hold 1 are flushed with sea water, and sludge (A) which remains in the hold 1 is collected at one place. Then, a bulkhead valve 4 is opened, it is transferred with the sludge (A) into a hold 2, upper limpid water only in the hold 2 is drained into the ocean. After that, respective loadings are done such that hold hallast is loaded in the hold 1, and cargo is loaded in the hold 2. And when the cargo in the hold 2 is unloaded, the sludge (A) is unloaded together with the cargo.
