PURPOSE:To remove the influence of the eccentricity of the roll, for contriving the improvement of the accuracy of the sheet thickness, by obtaining the equivalent mill constant correspondingly to the eccentricity and frequency of the roll, by computing the gain of the roll-gap/rolling-load, and by adjusting the roll-gap. CONSTITUTION:The pulse generatoer 9 attached to the backup roll 3 detects the rotation of the roll and produces the output to the arithmetic unit 10 for the roll's eccentricity and frequency. The equivalent mill constant is previously computed and is approximated as the function of only the angluar frequency by the function generator 17; the equivalent mill constant is computed correspondingly to the output signal of the arithmetic unit 10 for the roll's eccentricity and frequency; thus obtained equivalent mill constant is inputted to the gain arithmetic unit 18. The gain arithmeitc unit 18 computs the roll-gap/rolling-load-constant, and produces the output to the multiplier 13. Hereby, the change of the equivalent mill constant, according to the frequency response of the variable mill constant controlling system, is exactly reflected on the compensational controe output for the roll's rccentricity, so that the compensational heeffect is held constant, even if the rolling speed is changed.
