PURPOSE:To provide a thrust bearing device described in the title which has remarkably long life time and which generates very small quantity of heat, by using a material which is capable of being tempered for the raceway ring of the bearing, and by hardening only the raceway surface on which rolling material runs rollingly in order to give suitable hardness. CONSTITUTION:In a thrust bearing described above, the rigidity of inner and outer rings is decreased in the same space as low as possible, and suitable hardness not lower than HRC60 is given only to the raceway surface (shaded portion in figures), on which a rolling material runs rollingly, by hardening through carburization or with high frequency waves etc., using steel material capable of being tempered as a material for the raceway ring. As a result, the rolling-fatigue life is improved and the deflection spring-constant of the raceway ring is increased by using the elasticity of a portion not annealed (core portion in the case of raceway ring A, the side on which no rolling-run is made in the case of raceway ring B). Hence, no camber is produced on the outer and inner rings even under high-temp. service conditions, whereby a thrust bearing described in the title which prevents the formation of clearance in the axial direction of the swash plate and the degradation in the compression efficiency is manufactured.
