PURPOSE:To generate electricity efficiently, by generating and storing liquid air, and raising pressure and temperature of the liquid air by pump to use it for driving a high-pressure turbine and an intermediate-pressure turbine at the time when demand for electric power is at the peak. CONSTITUTION:Air compressed by compressor 8 is liquefied by air liquefying means 10 and stored in a liquid air reserving tank. Liquid air thus stored is taken out as the case demands and carried to combustor 24 via pump 20, evaporator 21 and heat exchanger 22. In the combustor 24, liquid air is combusted together with fuel supplied from liquid fuel pump 26 and high-pressure turbine 29 is driven by the gas generated in combustor 24. Then, the combustion gas is carried to combustor 38 and used for driving intermediate-pressure turbine 40. To the combustor 38, there is supplied LNG as auxiliary fuel via LNG tank 2, pump 35 and heat exchanger 22. Further, exhaust gas from the intermediate-pressure turbine 40 is utilized for heating heat exchanger 22.
