PURPOSE:To greatly improve the measuring accuracy, and to largely shorten the lost time, by measuring the moisture content of the reconditioned molding sand, etc., just before charging it into a batch hopper, and at the same time, by feeding the tank with water by amount to supply the shortage of moisture content of the sand. CONSTITUTION:When the reconditioned molding sand is dropped from the silo 1 through the guide tube 2 into the batch hopper 3, the detector 6 exactly detects the moisture content of the sand. By this detecting signal, the valve 7 is controlled so as to supply the tank 4 with water by amount required in supplying the shortage of moisture content of the sand, at the same time as the sand passes the guide tube 2. Hereby, when the whole of specified amount of sand drops into the hopper 3, the measurement for the total moisture content of whole sand passed the guide tube 2 is finished, and at the same time, an amount of water required in supplying the total shortage of moisture content of whole sand can be reserved in the tank 4.
