The rollers of the super calender are lifted, to bring them out of action, by the lifting cylinder on conversion to a delustering satiniser. The spindle nuts can then be reset. The spindle nuts are moved downwards, before the superfluous rollers are lifted out of action, so that there is an increased gap between the uppermost roller of the wanted section and the lowest roller of the displaced section. At least one distance piece is inserted into this gap to allow the gap to be increased further as the spindle nut is reset for the rollers to be used. When the distance piece is in place, all the spindle nuts are set to the normal gap between them and the limit surfaces on the mounting wall. The gap developed between the rollers is sufficiently larger than the distance piece, to allow its insertion into the gap, to be placed between the two side discs of the flexible rollers and the collar of the hard roller. The mechanism allows a simple and quick conversion of use for the super calender unit.
