^1.A method for the etraott,on of (not read able text) from the lateritic nickel ores of Orissa containing nlkl, cobalt, Iron, silica, magnesin, alumina whicb Is characterized in that the ore la subjected to chloridizing roasting by miring the finely devided ore thoroughly with an Insufficient amount of hydroehlorie acid C35%), heating the resulting sluriy to 60-120C followed by roasting of the thick Meas at a temperature lying tetween 200 and 400C for a period ranging between 15 and 120 alttutes, being further charaetarized in that the ohloridized ore is leached wltb water at a temperature between 25 and 100C, and separating the leach residue from the leach solution the latter consisting essentlally- of the water soluble chldridea of Iron, ntckel, cobalt, manganese and Bagdeslum, followed by adjusting the pH of the leach solution to 3-4, separa ting the hydratsd iron oxide by filtration and raising th ph of tta filtrate to 7.0-8.5 to precipitate nickel hydroxide whlch is separated by filtration and is washed, dried and sintered.
