The hook (4) is intended for securing wire mesh fencing material to a square tubular rail (1) via a lacing wire (3) threaded through the meshes along the edge of the material. It comprises a first L-shaped portion (5,6) which is inserted through an opening in the rail so that one side (5) of the portion lies against the inside of the rail, and a second L-shaped portion (8,9) shaped such that it can be secured around the wire (3) by bending. The part (8) of the portion (8,9) may be offset (7) relative to the part (6) of the portion (5,6).
