The hydraulically operable (2) unit (3) can be coupled to a tractor and is intended for removing plant growth from the bottom and side of a ditch (4) with or without water. It comprises a first rotary mower disc (5) with cutter blades (6) to remove growth from the bottom, and a rotary ejector disc (23) which is arranged at an angle to the disc (5) and carries cutter blades and ejector blades (10) to move cut material to an ejector duct. The disc (5) is secured to the lower end of a rotary drum (7) with vertical axis carrying axially spaced sets of radial cutter blades (8). The disc (5) and drum (7) assembly (22) rotates in opposite direction to the ejector and transfers the bottom cuttings to the ejector disc.
