Cutting unit for underwater-trench in rocky ground - using suction cutter dredger with edge cutting disc driven by suction head drive shaft

The unit cuts a trench (11) in a hard, e.g. rocky, bed of a water course using a disc-shaped rotary cutting tool (7). It uses a vessel (1), such as a suction cutter dredger, which can be moved and positioned relative to the bed and comprises a vertically movable frame (3) with drive mechanism (6) for a cutter head. The cutting disc (7) is coupled to the cutter head drive shaft (6) at the bottom of the frame. The wheel (7) may have a horizontal shaft at right angles to the drive shaft (6) or may be directly carried at the end of this shaft.
