Centrifugal flash dryer - with tangential inlet and outlet of cylindrical drum enclosing revolving shaft and blades

Centrifugal flash dryer for pasty, adhesive, agglutinant and moist material, e.g. potato gratings or starch, consists of a cylindrical horizontal or vertical dryer with a dia.-to- length ratio of 1:1.5 to 1:12 (1:2 to 1:6). A central shaft carries adjustable blades, passing close to the wall, and a tangential inlet, for the material and the drying agent, is provided at one end of the drum and a tangential outlet at the other end. A motor drives the blades in the same direction as the swirling flow. Arrangement results in a greatly simplified centrifugal flow, feed and distribution of drying agent and moist material. No interruptions occur due to encrustations.
