A resilient end closure for cylindrical extrusion press container (3) which also serves as an expulsion piston head for viscous plastic material (8) comprises a crown plate (1), a hollow skirt portion (2), and at least one sealing lip (4). The sealing lip (4) is swept back at an angle towards the filling end of the container to create a pocket (5) which enhances the venting, sealing and driving effects. A wiping lip may be provided around the periphery of the crown plate (1). Internally, the piston head may be provided with a deformable annular lip (7) and a buffer ring (7a) to enable the piston head to be driven by a mechanical drive member fitted into the piston head.
