1512164 Silencing gaseous flow GEBR TROX GmbH 11 March 1976 [29 March 1975] 09725/76 Heading F1B A noise damper for gases flowing in a ventilating or air-conditioning system, comprises a duct, subdivided by longitudinal partitions into several flow-paths, each partition being covered on one side by sound absorbent material. Fig. 3 shows the imperforate metal components of a partition, each sub-unit contains damping material 7, folded as shown in Fig. 2. Alternate sub-units are open on opposite sides. The edges of the sub-units are covered by channel sections 8, 9. Fig. 2 shows constructional modifications of sub-units according to their position in a partition relative to the direction of gas flow i.e. round corners 6a at the downstream and/or upstream end or a tapered unit C at the downstream end. The damper is stated to have improved sound attenuating properties in the 200-500 Hz range.
