In production of parts from a workpiece with a predetermined dimensional area, use is made of a numerically controlled automatic punching machine of revolver type and shears. The workpiece is held with its original dimensional area in a nonshorn manner. Various pieces are separated for the punching machine's gripping elements, the parts and control holes for the control pins of the shears. During the punching, the punching machine is made to assume a first station to enable the blanking with a first die. The punching machine is also caused to perform the blanking operation with the first blanking die before it is driven to set up at a second station to enable the blanking with a second blanking die. During the punching operation with the first and the second die the punching machine is caused to punch a consecutive hole which is located adjacent or near to the last punched hole regardless of whether said consecutive hole is situated on the same part or a different part of the workpiece. After the punching, the parts are separated in the shears in a familiar manner. IMAGE
