Ploughs are continuously rotated within a heated cylindrical processing chamber containing a moist batch of high nitrile resin particles of broad size distribution, to establish a converging mixing pattern and repeatedly force portions of the batch upwardly along the surface of the chamber while vaporising at least some of the moisture. Portions of the resin are diverted in the opposite direction from the converging pattern to increase the surface exposure of the particles, without fusing them together. A low pressure gas is circulated through the particles to purge the vaporised moisture and entrain a portion of the smaller particles from the chamber. The particles are dried without degenerating the polymer.
