ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe BOD level of black liquor condensates in pulpmill wherein bleach plant effluents are introduced to theblack liquor re overy operation is decreased to a very lowlevel by combining the most contaminated condensates fromthe black liquor concentration step and steam strippingmethanol from the mixture. The stripped condensate thenmay be used elsewhere in the mill.
