PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF GRAFT-COPOLYMERS BY POLYMERISATION/GRAFTING IN EMULSION/SUSPENSION

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A method of manufacture of graft copolymers by polymerization of a monomer mixture composed of at least one vinylaromatic derivative and at least one acrylic or methacrylic derivative, on an elastomer containing éthyléni-c bond. In a first step, is polymerized in-aqueu to the monomer mixture emulsion in the presence of the elastomer in latex form dimensional until the ratio to 30% or higher, "x" is the conversion rate of the monomers introduced, expressed in per cent of the total amount "a" expressed in parts by weight of said monomers and "b" being the amount of elastomer, expressed in parts by weight of dry matter; after a new addition of latex dimensional comple-mentary, the reaction is completed in a second step by suspension polymerization. The method according to the invention allows to manufacture a product of excellent quality both in mechanical properties in surface appearance. It reduces the ag-glomeration latex emulsion graft at the time of the suspension, which gives the gloss of the final product and provides gr? It to the new latex introduction in late emul-sion to ensure magnification of a sufficient number of particu them to ensure good mechanical properties to the final product, the cohesion of the whole being ensured by polymerizing-Clerk-wise suspension of the remainder of the monomers.
