The process for preparing a bleaching liquor which is low in sodium chloride from a bleaching liquor which is high in sodium chloride by crystallisation of sodium hypochloride at below -10 DEG C and removal and thawing of the crystals is characterised in that crystallisation is carried out in the presence of the sodium salt of a weak acid.
