Stabilising composition comprising a) a metal mercaptide of the formula I IMAGE and b) an o-dihydroxyaryl compound of the formula II IMAGE in which the substituents and symbols in the formulae I and II are as defined in Claim 1. This stabilising composition ensures an excellent thermostabilising action in chlorine-containing thermoplastics.
