Process for treating an object to extend the austenitic-martensitic hysteresis loop of the metallic composition

Certain metallic compositions are subject to a reversible transformation between the austenitic and the martensitic state. The temperature at which the transition from the martensitic state to the austenitic state occurs for these compositions can be increased if an object formed from the composition in question is deformed and in the deformed state is held at a temperature at which the composition is normally present in the austenitic state.
