The hydrostatic gear system has the conveyed-quality reference signal (4) monitored by a limiter (23) that limits it to a max. admissible value dependent on the working pressure (15,16) of the gear. - The limiter is set by evaluating the reciprocal of the working pressure signal. (A processor (21) is used to convert the working pressure signal). An adjustable amplifier (18) is connected to the input side of the processor in order to change the power limit at will. The system changes the quantity conveyed by the pump and changes the transfer ratio in such a way that the quantity conveyed is reduced. (DS).
