The guide rail for the plane in front of the coal face is hinged, by pressure components passing transversely below the conveyor, to advancing support units. It can be tilted by hydraulic cylinders or similar setting members. The pressure components are hinged by prop base plates on the coal face side. At an offset level from the hinges they are engaged by the setting members, which have their other ends hinged to the same base plates on the backfilling side.
