Land or water surface anti-frost protection - with heat-conducting unit between surface and naturally warmer zone

The object is to prevent frost damage caused by water freezing in outdoor pools in winter, or to keep road, square or path surfaces free of snow and ice, at low cost and without elaborate heating, salt spreading or other labour-intensive activity. One or more bodies, of material with high heat-conducting capacity, such as copper or aluminium in plate or strip shape, are installed, with one part in the immediate vicinity of the surface to be protected, and another part in an area which is unheated but where the temperature is naturally higher, such as an underground area or subterranean water. In the case of water protection it can be vertically set up, with one end projecting just above the surface and the other in the deepest area, the top end being pref. fitted with a buoyant unit.
