The labelling machines is regulated so that the labels (1) are fed at the correct speed to the object e.g. ampoules (4) being labelled. In order to achieve this the carrier band (2) for the labels has a light reflection sensor (9) positioned above it and the label deliverer (3). The label deliverer is driven by a motor with a regulatable transmission. As the transmission is regulated, a level linkage is adjusted and this is connected by a Bowden cable (8) to the sensor unit. The sensor itself is mounted on a guide (10) and is adjusted against the action of a spring (11).
