The conversion is done by the multiple integration principle. In a first step a charge store is charged during a specified time interval, and then it is recharged by a reference voltage, with the charging time counted. The charge store is in a third step charged with the measurement voltage with reversed polarity (Ux) during the same specified time interval (N. To) and in a fourth step is charged again by the reference voltage (UN) until the voltage threshold (USt) is reached. The necessary time (n2. To) is again counted. The measurement (Ux) and the reference (UN) voltages are in turn passed through a preamplifier (V1), and the sume of counts during the second and fourth steps is the measures for the test voltage (Ux).
