The traffic regulating and warning system provides progressive warning signs on approaching a natural danger such as fog, ice, rain or accidents which could lead to further collisons. It is also applicable to traffic flowing in the opposite direction so that, e.g. curious drivers do not suddenly stop without heeding following vehicles. Signal lamps are regularly placed alongside the motorway etc. at distances of about 500 m to 3,000 m. Each lamp has a manual switch. The switches are so connected together that when one is switched on at least the next lamp in the direction of the oncoming traffic is also switched on as well as the lamp on the opposite side of the motor-way and the lamp preceding it.
