Boosted single-phase motor - has core inducing EMF added to mains voltage with its primary and secondary windings

A single-phase or three-phase motor, fed by a single-phase supply, has efficiency improved and voltage drop reduced by using a secondary coil connected to the same network as the primary coil. The induced e.m.f. is then acting in series with the mains voltage and the nett power is then given by the product of mains voltage and of currents in both coils. The auxiliary phase winding (2) has a series-connected capacitor (4) and the boost of e.m.f. is ensured by the iron core (7) with primary and secondary windings (5,6).
