The vehicle IC engine cooling fan is based on an axial flow rotor-cum-stator. This additionally feeds an oil cooler alongside the fan causing via an appropriately arranged casing slot downstream of the stator. One or more slots are also provided in the region of the rotor. At least one of these is wide enough to overlap the rotor blade tips so that the radial flow component in the rotor also becomes effective. With a rotor upstream of the stator, slots are provided separately downstream of each of them.
