A sliding-piece is non-rotably mounted in one sleeve piece of the hinge. It is pressed by a spring partially into the adjacent socket-type in the hinge joint. This type of hinge joint is used esp. on stylised furniture units. Its protruding end face has a steep radial ramp surface fitting a complementary one inside the second piece. These two surfaces are pressed together in the hinge's closing position. When it is moved into the opening position, the slide's ramp surface slides axially against spring force, on the other ramp surface, until it passes over this one's end. An invisible snap mechanism is thus integrated, permitting secure door-closure and retention.
