Electric cable laminated sheath consists of extruded plastics over a tube of overlapping strips of smooth steel foil, which is coated with an adhesive copolymer on both sides and welded or stuck to the plastics sheath. The steel foil is placed on an extruded inner sheath with a regular pattern of longitudinal grooves. A spiral thread is spun on the inner sheath, which subdivides the grooves in the longitudinal direction, then the surface is coated with a mobile compsn. protecting the steel foil against corrosion. A plastics-coated retaining coil is spun onto the steel foil tube under tension and its coating is stuck or welded to the outer sheath and the coating on the steel foil. The steel tube is protected against corrosion even if damaged.
