Flow regulator on plastics extruder barrel - where diametrically opposite rams mounted on the barrel operate together under fine control

The flow path of an extruder for plastics is regulated with pressure rams in at least one plane on the barrel and set radially to the bore. The rams are connected to a common operating lever mechanism fixed to the barrel. The systems to control the stroke of the rams are operated by a guide lever radial to the barrel, they have members linked to that lever and to the end of the operating lever. The simple design varies free flow path uniformly over its whole circumference, and provides fine control.
