A two point rear suspension for a car has two trailing arms (4,5) pivoted from the chassis and linked to a rigid axle (6). One arm is fitted rigidly to the axle and the other (4) with a sliding fit. This accommodates lateral forces without damaging the suspension. The suspension is further braced by a rigid diagonal strut (12) between the arm rigidly fixed to the axle and the axle. The subframe so formed is braced on the chassis by two coil springs or struts. A simple, low cost suspension is formed.
