Printing press central support system - has sleeve driven by satellite rollers mounted round central support roller

The central supporting system for a printing press comprises a central support roller (1) turning in one direction, and two or more satellite rollers (2-6) driven from it by friction and turning in the opposite direction. A sleeve (7) fits closely round the satellite rollers and is driven by them. The contact lines for printing between the satellite rollers are softer than in locations where the sleeve passes tangentially over the rollers. Thus alternate hard and soft lines of sliding value are formed round the sleeve, accommodating different printing devices.
