Delay line for travelling wave tube - has side chambers with central variably spaced but equal apertures and chamber walls with staggered apertures

The delay line is for a travelling wave tube. The control core of the coaxial tube is divided by partitions, the electron beam (70) travels through a central aperture (60) in an entry port and through all partitions (30,31, to 35) which divide the tube into several cells (10,11, to 14). The distance (B) separating partitions (40) at the centre is constant along the tube and the size of the central core hub (A,A') longitudinally varies. The thickness of the partition (D) is constant throughout, only the hubs vary, and each carries a port, through to the next cell, which is offset relative to those either side.
