Fluidised bed gasification of crushed coal - involves injecting coal dust from raw gas with fines into bed

Coal is gasified in a reactor with a fluidised bed above a fixed bed to which crushed coal is fed. Suspended coal dust is sepd. from the raw gas and injected into the fluidised bed together with screened fine coal and a gasifying medium. The dust is held in an intermediate storage tank and the fine coal is injected at a rate depending on the amount of injected dust. Ordinary coal dust burners must be operated at constant full load to prevent slag incrustation of the reaction spaces. The new system copes with the always fluctuating yield of coaldust.
