The switching system for an electrical supply includes excess current and short circuit switching paths. Each path is connected by its own current collectors and includes its own switching and resetting systems. The resetting systems each include a unit with memory functions which may include a bistable relay. This has its primary side operated by the release voltage and returned only by a circuit operated by a separate voltage source independent of the release voltage. The secondary coil of the bistable relay is connected by an ohmic resistance in parallel with a cold conducting device, a switch and a two path rectifier to the remote voltage source, forming a series path.Across the coil is a voltage limiting zener diode. The resetting system is connected to a transmitting unit fed from the same supply voltage as the resetting device.
