Appts. monitoring atmospheric concns. uses laser arrangements and takes into account the dispersion and absorption of laser light by molecular and aerosol particles. A laser transmitter cooperates with a receiving detector. The latter is formed by a photo diode. Several detector signals are supplied to a mean value generator. The signal supply is carried out via a rapid-acting A/D converter with a memory. Pref. behind the receive photodiode is a series-connected, two-stage amplifier with an emitter follower. The appts. may have a rotary and tilting structure, similar to a radar system. It is portable, compact and is easily operated and serviced.
