Marking points located ultrasonically for medical purposes - using mask enabling ultrasonic image and skin marker application

A method of marking points located ultrasonically for medical purposes, esp. radiology, gynaecology, urology etc., simplifies the marking procedure and makes it more reliable. A suitable point is first located using ultrasonic B imaging. The acoustic conditions are then varied in the region of the located point so as to mark the point. The marking is then transferred to the skin. The conditions are altered by placing a mask in the region of the point so as to vary the acoustic resistance. This enables the point to be marked on the ultrasonic image. The skin marking is applied by the mask after removal of the ultrasonic head. The mask has a small wall thickness and a round recess.
