The regulating system for a boiler or large volume drying equipment uses a pressure regulator (10) acting through a drive to control the operation of a shaft (3) with a connection (2) controlling the fuel supply and another connection controlling the air supply regulator (8). The shaft is connected by an intermediate member (4) to a regulator (5) which receives control signals from an oxygen monitor (9) installed in the exhaust gas duct. This operates through a cam (6) and cam follower (7) incorporated in the air regulator which operates so that pollution by the exhaust gases is reduced to a low level by ensuring an optimum fuel to air ratio.
