The generator is partially or wholly surrounded by the mass of water and has at least one chamber system containing a turbine and located at a given depth below the surface of the water. After the water has passed the turbine it flows through a discharge system with at least one channel or pipe diverting it to an emptied mineral oil or gas space and/or to a mine chamber or a naturally-occurring rock chamber. The turbine is fully or partially within the chamber system which pref. has a circular cross-section and a given dia. It is open at the top for inflow of the water and is anchored to the sea or lake bed via cement or steel foundations or anchor elements.
