Tracks intersecting in the junction area have a horizontal running surface for wheels, and vertical cross-guiding stems on both sides of this, in junction points for trough-shaped rail tracks with vertically movable points-switching elements. On the inner cross-guiding stems, the vertically movable sections (6c,7c) are limited to a narrow stem piece not exceeding the width of a rail vehicle tyre. The strip-shaped recesses (13) extend parallel to the inner stems concerned. The stem sections are movable across a parallelogram guideway (19) parallel to themselves, with hinge points (20,21) vertically superimposed in pairs.
