The safety cut-out suitable for a night storage heater has an outer resin shell (1) and an inner plastics shell (2) with grips (8, 9) projecting from one side. The fuse element is a double fuse with common contact blades (5,6), projecting from opposite ends. One element (3) has a strip in two parts connected by a piece of solder (13). The other element has two strips (4,7) with extensions (10,11) projecting sideways with a gap between them. Inside the inner housing, the extensions bend over towards each other, then extend outwards again, for connection outside the housing by a thermal joint which melts when a certain temperature is reached.
