The housing contains a selection device and a subscriber circuit (4) whose microphone (6) and earphone (8) are incorporated in the handset. It also encloses a call-answering device with a digital memory (12) for storage and reproduction of messages, and a programmable control circuit (14) with selection keys for call-answering operation. A reception channel (7) and reproduction channel (9) are connected selectively to the memory via an a-d converter (20) and d-a converter (22) respectively.
