Rotating tower carrying casting ladles - has two outer ladle jibs which can each swivel on inner jib, to save space in continuous casting plant

The tower has a central pillar fitted with a motor employed to rotate a lower jib (1). Each end of jib (1) is fitted with a ring rolling bearing for a jib (9,10); and each jib (9,10) can be rotated on its bearing by a motor. Each jib (9,10) ends in a fork carrying a casting ladle. The result is that in addn. to the rotation of jib (1), each jib (9,10) can be rotated through a horizontal arc of pref. at least 180 deg., thus reducing the effective swivel radius of the tower. A bucket for emergency draining of the ladles can be located very near the tower, and space is saved.
