The holder comprises vertical rods fastened to a plinth-like base (1) wherein the rods are placed in pairs (1a,1b,2a,2b) and the pairs are placed in different planes with the spacing of the rods of each pair being different. The clothes hangers can now be stacked vertically to save space. One set of rods can be formed by a front, centre and rear pair wherein the front pair holds the underneath of the hanger, the middle pair holds the top and the rear pair holds the hook. Hangers with and without horizontal trouser rails can now be held firm.
