In new agents for combating caries contg. as active substance a bacteriolytic or bactericidal enzyme (esp. lysozyme or dextranose), enzyme is immobilised on a carrier material or at least one binding material is present to bind the enzyme molecules with each other or couple them with a carrier material. Immobilisation of the enzyme renders it insoluble, so that it does not become dissolved in the saliva and thus diluted and removed from its site of action. It becomes possible to locate the enzyme in the oral cavity and maintain an effective concn. day-long.
