Radiation survey detector for computer tomography - has electrode plates supported on distance plates to ensure accurate location on base plate

A radiation surveying unit for use in computer tomography uses detectors such that dimensional tolerance errors are not cumulative. The unit consists of a series of detector chambers (2) formed by rectangular section electrode plates (3,4), separated by distance strips (5) around the edges. The distance strips have a 'T' profile to provide good mechanical stability and are bonded to the electrode plates with an air drying adhesive. Locating dowel pins (14,15) are inset into the ends of the distance piece elements and ensure that the electrode plate pairs are set at an angle (alpha) when they are mounted on a base plate.
